Greater China PR Consultancy of the Year

Campaign Title

Ruder Finn China

Ruder Finn China delivered outstanding financial, client, new business and operational success in 2014. This marked a year of transformation as a result of a top-to-bottom redesign of the organisation, moving it from a group of successful, but largely separate, businesses into an integrated, seamless national China powerhouse of talent, creativity, client work and digital delivery supported by a new SAP client, financial and accounting infrastructure. The agency delivered record financial results in 2014. Across its China operations (Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou), revenues increased to nearly US$18.3 million (+10 per cent) from nearly $16.6 million in 2013. Earnings (before tax) increased to $2.5 million (+42 per cent). The Group’s largest clients in 2014 included Volkswagen Group China, Cartier, Sanofi, Michelin, Hèrmes, Longines, Omron, Bosch and British Columbia. Ruder Finn also continued its high client retention rate with 8 years being the average relationship and 17 years the longest, with Michelin. A significant portfolio of new client wins in 2014 also drove business outperformance with a combined value of US$3.86 million. New clients included Alibaba, Shanghai Disney Resort, De Beers, Michael Kors, Richemont, Blancpain and Watches and Wonders. At the core of the firm’s success in 2014 was a commitment to new ways of a) delivering client service, b) managing the business and c) attracting and retaining colleagues. In the highly-competitive China market, with notoriously high staff turnover, Ruder Finn’s leadership sought to do things differently and better in 2014. One stand-out statistic: senior management stay with the firm, on average, more than eight years. The firm also advanced its dedicated RFI Digital Studios business, which stands side by side with the mainstream Ruder Finn China client business.
