Winners of this category last year, Waggener Edstrom Worldwide have repeated their success again this year, using their success in 2011 as a springboard to launch new offices, diversified service offerings and a launch of new digital tools as well as taking on new staff and producing more campaigns for new and existing clients. Towards the end of 2010, the network opened it’s first office in India, further consolidating their position with the establishment of Waggener Edstrom India with offices in Bangalore and Delhi to join the original India office in Mumbai. By taking an equity stake in Buchan Consulting, a mid-size agency specialising in corporate communications, public affairs and crisis management, it gave the network its first foothold in Australia, while it continues to explore avenues for expansion within the region. 2011 saw the agency diversify from its core strengths of tech consultancy into new areas including healthcare, B2B, consumer lifestyle, finance, travel and transport. In Singapore it added Sony Electronics, Toyota and Standard Chartered among others to its portfolio, while winning pitches in Hong Kong for 7-Eleven, Maxim’s Group and HTC. In China, Pirelli, Johnson & Johnson, and Ossur became clients of the agency. The network’s move into the digital realm was a major area of focus that allowed them to better service their client’s growing needs in the digital space. One of the key initiatives was the launch of Insights & Analytics, a special practice focused on online and offline influence channels, offering client’s audience insights, brand awareness and perception. Other proprietary tools at their disposal include the Narrative Network, a media brand mapping software and Ripple Effect, a post-campaign tool that measures online influence. In the office environment the network employs Insights and Hogan, two highly regarded training and personality profiling systems that help build stronger and more cohesive teams, and offer one of the most effective retention packages in the industry to make sure they can hold onto their talent.
