Terry Lim, Changi Airport Group

A sociable and results-driven professional with four years of experience in the public relations field, Lim received two promotions in three years while working at Changi Airport Group (CAG). With the primary responsibility of driving campaigns to position Singapore Changi Airport as a key gateway to the Asia-Pacific region, his areas of expertise also include crisis communications and issues management, having formulated the airport company’s crisis communications framework and being involved in numerous public affairs campaigns in 2012. Lim strove to deliver effective communications programmes that resulted in strong media coverage and positive word of mouth. His achievements in 2012 included a public affairs campaign for the closure of the airport’s Budget Terminal in September 2012 in response to intensifying competition among rival air hubs. CAG believes Lim’s communications efforts to safeguard Changi Airport’s air hub status are beginning to bear fruit. In 2012, the airport achieved a record-breaking year with more than 51.2 million travellers passing through its terminals, crossing the 50-million passenger mark for the first time in its 32-year history. This achievement has made Changi the world’s seventh busiest airport in terms of international passenger traffic. Prior to joining Changi, Lim began his career at Weber Shandwick Singapore where he was offered a permanent position, right after completing his university studies and despite the ongoing economic downturn. During his time at the consultancy, Lim managed Singapore media relations for General Motors and Chevrolet, as well as supporting investor relations for Singapore-listed First Ship Lease Trust.
