Mutant Communications

Nimble, gutsy and fiercely independent, Mutant Communications has been growing from strength to strength since its launch in 2012. The agency has had between 70 and 100% year on year growth every year since launch.

2017 was a large year with more than $1m in new business, a new branch office in Malaysia plus strong growth of existing clients that has set the company up for an even bigger 2018.

Mutant has continued to build it’s profile with a steady stream of inbound organic quality clients with senior staff raising their profile through interviews, speaking opportunities and thought leadership in media across the region.

The agency has been innovative in evolving core offerings and building out new skill sets with fresh senior hires in different disciplines. The company is geared to more than double head account again in 2018 with new offices in Jakarta and Philippines.

Echo Myanmar

In its first three years of operations Echo Myanmar has gone from a team of 3 to nearly 40, with its largest growth spurt occurring throughout 2017. This was a powerful combination of hiring the right people, achieving the right recognition and winning/retaining the largest clients in Myanmar pitching against more established regional names.

In 2017, Echo Myanmar was able to win Coca-Cola, FrieslandCampina, Facebook, Microsoft, Huawei, MPT Money, Tencent and Thilawa Special Economic Zone (Myanmar’s largest and most successful SEZ). Furthermore, it retained key founding clients like KBZ Group, Myanma Posts & Telecommunications, Volkswagen, FrieslandCampina and others.

The agency came away with more awards (6) and nominations (11) than any competitor in its market (boutique or network), taking home two awards at PublicAffairsAsia in December (tying for the most of all nominees) and receiving the nomination for SEA PR Agency of the Year at AOY 2017, the only single-country agency to receive the recognition.

Furthermore, Echo doubled in size from 16 to 38 in the period of eligibility and more than doubled its fees from the year before, finally moving itself from the small condo it occupied to the central-most office tower in Yangon
