As a Director, Emily is the youngest member of the BCW Singapore Leadership Team and a key driver of the office’s impressive growth story, contributing to 80% of the agency’s new business growth in FY21. Deputising the agency’s Market Leader, she plays a pivotal role in agency operations, new business, professional development and recruitment, while leading BCW client teams, and the provision of core corporate and public affairs expertise across Singapore and APAC. With a desire to bridge cultural understanding based on her own mixed British and Malaysian heritage, she’s been a star performer of the agency across two continents. One of the youngest senior leaders in the industry, Emily dedicates time to being a role model for team members and is recognised as a caring leader, while driving stellar business results and client outcomes – a true representation of compassionate leadership and the face of the future of PR.

“Dr Vivien Chiong has been instrumental in growing NTU Singapore’s reputation as one of the world’s top universities. She combines strategic insight, creative storytelling skills and the use of new technologies with her vision and team leadership to fulfil NTU’s strategic objectives.

Her early adoption of digital technologies such as in augmented reality and in using mobile app Airtable for planning of assignments paid off during the COVID-19 pandemic. It allowed her to lead the in-house team to work remotely and collaboratively, and to pivot their communication activities effectively, creating various unique digital experiences when in-person events had to be cancelled.

In 2021, she not only expanded her scope of communication responsibilities but also implemented in-house a number of key corporate initiatives, including communicating NTU’s first Sustainability-Linked Bond, which raised S$$650 million. Under her leadership, her team has won more than 90 awards since 2011, including 13 awards in 2021.”
